I click on “Project” and that opens up a screen that lists my projects. The only options I have are those on top right which are Favourites, Notifications, Settings and Help. Although you stated you are using Microsoft Project, your description indicates that you are using the new Project for the Web application.
This tool is very new, and is intended for occasional project managers who manage small and simple projects. In its current release, there is no option in Project for the Web to export a project to Excel. Perhaps the best you can do currently is to print your project schedule.
